Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 is out, but you might want to wait

I recommended Deer Park a few weeks ago, and now the official Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 is out! A word of warning, however: the Web Developer extension has not yet been updated for 1.5. And, for me, after I ran 1.5 on my Mac, my Deer Park alpha no longer sees extensions. So, I’m basically left without Web Developer until it’s updated. I’m sure that will be soon, but this is something to keep in mind if you’re a heavy user of Web Developer.

Update: the Web Developer extension has been updated to support Firefox 1.5 beta.

Kevin, assuming you’re talking about this extension: http://ted.mielczarek.org/code/mozilla/extensiondev/ it definitely works with FF 1.5 Beta 1 on Windows XP. I’m using it right now. I used it to ensure PasswordMaker works with FF 1.5 Beta 1. You might want to try again, or post a message in Ted’s support thread here:

Good luck,
Eric

I was pleased to see FF 1.5 support in PasswordMaker when I upgraded. Since I’m already actively using PM for a couple of sites, it would be hard to live without.

The extension I was referring to is the “Web Developer” extension by Chris Pederick. He has posted a blog entry about his plans for this extension:

The short of it is that we’ll either see the current version become compatible soon, OR we’ll see a beta of the next version of the extension. Web Developer is a great extension. Here’s the home page:
