Kevin,
Our company will be introducing a new site in the next month or so and we are using TurboGears to deploy it. In the past we have used godaddy to host our comapny's website, as well as other domain services. I know you just switched to Godaddy yourself and I was wondering if there is anything special we need to know relevant to setting up on their site. Are you running under Apache there?
Thanks

If you link to the file like this: http://turbogears.org.nyud.net:8090/docs/wiki20/20MinuteWiki.mov it will be served through the coral caching network thus drastically reducing the bandwidth consumption on your servers. Of course, this won't work for the whole site but you could use the caching link for big files that really eat up your BW.

While it's true that people will use BitTorrent for something they want, some percentage of the people will just say "bah! I don't have time for this". One reason that people buy 1.8 million songs a day on iTunes Music Service, rather than downloading them P2P, is that people want "the artists to be compensated". At least as likely, however, is that it's just *so* convenient and easy.

As long as it's viable for just "serve up the file" so that people can watch right there in their browsers, I want to do it. Remarkably, it looks like I now have access to a great deal of bandwidth, so it should be possible to keep things going with a better user experience.

Thanks for the comment about TurboGears! There's lots more to do, but I'm glad that people like what's already there. I sure enjoy working with it!

What Seo said - I watched the screencast in the weekend, but I would have been quite happy to BitTorrent it down first. If you offer both, and try to encourage people to get the torrent, you'll have enough spare capacity to support people who don't know about torrents.

Thanks for the work you've done on TurboGears, by the way - it looks great, from the playing I've done.
