If Unix were invented today [by people who write Java], the configuration would be done in XML.

The people who write Java today aren&#039;t the same type as those that would invent Unix. Unix is in the Jersey school of design while the Java community favors MIT style design (see the worse is better essay). The original designers actually did have the the option of using XML in the form of s-expressions and chose not to.</description>
