Apple takes secrecy just a little too far sometimes - they should make their release schedule public [reasonably] ahead of time so that you can make an informed decision about whether you need the software NOW, and are thus willing to live with the lower version, or whether you can wait two weeks. I understand they want to squeeze every last dime out of their existing products before rolling out the new versions, but what a way to piss off your repeat buyers.

Incidents like this make software piracy all the more appealing.

There are some people who seem inclined to stick with 3.5 because of its included Apple Loops and Soundtrack software. It's not a complete loss.

Turns out that the worse aspect, though, is that FCE HD doesn't understand video formats other than HD and DV resolutions/frame rates. That's a bit restrictive for screencasting, since a screencast can be any size.

The LiveType tool is pretty neat.
