Crysania had her 2 month doctor’s visit today. She’s officially up to 9 pounds, 4.5 ounces. She had her first set of shots today, and did great with the shots. I’ve heard that babies tend to get cranky for a day after the shots. Hopefully, she’ll have a good day.

Parentstages has some tips on how to camp with children. We enjoy camping quite a bit, and look forward to being able to do it with Crysania.

Hard to believe that Crysania is already more than 6 weeks old! She’s doing great (already up to 9 pounds, from her low of 6 pounds 3 ounces!). Surekha had her 6 week physical and is also doing great!
Sure, sleep isn’t quite as restful and Crysania keeps us busy, but there is so much to be thankful for. And each little coo and smile that she gives is a great present. Parenting is everything people say it is, and it’s great! Just be sure you do it when you’re ready for it!

Here is a translation of a short article about a translator for a baby’s cries.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting - a book that everyone tells you to get, and with good reason. Covers many of the things that come up during pregnancy. This is a great guide to read before pregnancy so that you know what you’re getting yourself into.
Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way - This book was good for teaching us the Bradley method. Surekha and I both think that natural childbirth is great, but we also know that science can offer a lot to ensure the safety, well-being and comfort of a laboring woman and unborn child. Even though we chose to go ahead with medical interventions, I still recommend this book for anyone who would ideally have a natural childbirth.
What to Expect the First Year - Everything that’s good about the other What To Expect… book applies here.

I’ve really got to hand it to the folks at Graco. Their products are really well engineered and great to use! We just bought a Graco stroller to go with the infant car seat. It’s very solidly built and has many conveniences. Granted, that comes at a price: $70 at Target. But, this stroller will work great for us now (with the infant seat) and all the way up until Crysania is 40 pounds!

I had been wondering how much caffeine was okay for my wife to have (she hasn’t been having any caffeine for a long time). Parentstages has answered my question. According to them, having less than 400mg of caffeine is probably fine, and that’s like 10 cans of Coke.

For those that have been following my blog, the lack of activity over the past few days has probably seemed a little unusual. I had mentioned earlier in the year that we’re having a baby (and added the “Parenting” category, which seems slightly out of place with all of the geeking out that happens here).
On July 24th, our baby girl was born! Her name is Crysania and she’s really cute. I’ll post a picture later, and I’m sure there will be more pictures coming. At some point, I’ll write about the birth itself. Quite an experience, and these last few days have been an interesting introduction to parenting. I’m glad that I’m taking two weeks off of work.

One of the many joys of parenthood that await me is toddler aggression. We’ve got about 2 years ’til we’re there, but by putting this link in my blog maybe I’ll come back to this at the right time.
